Peter was killed in a shark attack on Tuesday while surfing in what lifesavers said were dangerous morning conditions, prompting authorities to close several beaches.

He was surfing with a friend at Ballina, on the north coast of New South Wales state, when the shark bit his upper leg and body.

I remember as a kid swimming out to sea and feeling so free. Swimming amongst the rocks and diving into the blue. Its so hard to imagine that this kind of thing can strike so close and when or if it does it leaves us shocked. I am an uncle and completely unrelated to the family. I just wanted to share the fact that as a simple Aussie, a long way from all the family and friends, I can only imagine, even now, the devastation you would have felt. At the reality of having to accept the loss of this guy, and the shock.

One thing, I am sure about Peter, even from here, and being that he seemed to love life and the exhilaration of the challenge to paddle out into the swell and for a moment do the all natural thing and experience the power of water. would he like to think you are letting go, or depressed or falling or even failing in your daily energy to go or get going, he would not like that, he wants you to live, of that I am sure, and live despite.

It would not be to his liking to have you be held back by depression or sadness. One tragedy is enough, now let the legacy of his life live through your achievements too.

I lost my brother when he was only 18 months old.

I miss you each and every day,
I miss your touch, your warmth and your smell.
There is so much i never had the chance to say to you, But you probably kno by now.
Your family id so beautiful and caring, i see them atleast once a week. your mum and dad are like my second parents.
Sometimes i think they're take care and love me more than my own family,
Your sister is adorable, come down and say hello to her, she's been down alot lately, she would really like it.
