About

Remembering Jason

Jason Leigh Jones was born at Tallangatta Hospital inTallangatta Victoria Australia on Thursday 14th March 1974 at 2.30 pm to Barrie and Judy Jones.  He lived with his parents in Jones Street in Albury NSW Australia and his sister Gayle Maree was born on 10 April 1975.  He moved with his parents to McFarland Road, Wodonga Victoria Australia.  Both parents worked and Jason and Gayle attended Wodonga Child Care Centre in Mitchell Street Wodonga.  He went to Kindergarten at Trudewind Road and then went to Primary School first at Melrose Primary and then attended Wodonga Primary School.  He moved to Leonard Street where his sister Skye-Lea was born and he also began to play soccer and then Aussie Rules football with Wodonga Saints and Bulldogs.  Jason played basketball with Sixers and Wodonga Basketball Clubs.  Jason played representative basketball with Albury and played in the U14 Champioships in Perth.  He also played with Bulleen Championship U16 Teams in Melbourne every weekend travelling by train on Friday nights. He also represented his home state of Victoria and he was also chosen to go on a tour of America to play basketball.

He played football with Wodonga Football Club Thirds in their Grand Final in 1991 and also became the youngest player at 17 to play Wodonga Seniors in the same year. He was looked at by Geelong(Aussie Rules Football team) but nagging knee injuries curtailed this.

Jason attended Wodonga HIgh School for his secondary schooling and completed his VCE and then he went to Wodonga West to redo it He felt he could achieve a higher mark and that he did.He was a very popular student who was known as 'The king of the basketball courts'

Jasons first job was Safeway as a casual after school.  He then worked for Dollar Curtains, and completed a Business Management Course and went on to work at the Birallee Tavern in Wodonga.  In1996 he moved to Perth,Western Australia. He started  work as a Bar Attendant at the Albion Hotel in Cottesloe where he went on to manage it.  Wanting a change ,Jason worked at ABC Decor, Pine a Plenty, and Vision Decor in sales.... He had alot of friends and would always be the first one in line to help any of them in anyway. Jase's Demons began to re-surface whilst living in Perth......

He came back  home to Victoria and moved into his unit in October 2007 to be with his beloved family.HIs mum Judy, his sisters Gayle and Skye-Lea. His nieces and nephews Vanessa-Rose,Jake, Abbey, Corey and Jed and his adored Ma and Pa. ...Jason fought a long hard battle with depression stemming from childhood abuse at the hands of 2 family members and 1 family friend. He called them his demons....He never  got over it. He managed to mask the pain through most of his life, but it came back to haunt him later in his adulthood. We tried so hard to save him..... but the battle was lost ......Jase found his own peace from his tormented mind on the 27th of March 2008....The day our world fell down around us......Jase could relate to anyone from all walks of life.....He never saw a fault in anyone he always looked for the best in everyone.....This was reflected at the amazing amount of peope at his funeral......His best mate did one of the eulogies and said something that was so true about Jase "How do you describe such a unique character who brought so much joy and laughter to everyone he met? He always left a lasting impression whether you knew him for 5mins or 30yrs"...Another friend said "He was an amazing person whom every boy wanted to be like and every girl wanted to be with" There was not a dry eye.....Nobody could believe that 'Jonesy' was gone....We his family are at loss for words to describe the pain we are feeling....Jason is a much loved son..brother...grandson..uncle..nephew..cousin..and friend to so many.
We have lost Our Rock..,Our Mentor,...Our Hero.,........We  love and miss you so much Jase.......You are forever in our hearts and minds.....Until we meet again ,fly free our beautiful angel...they cant hurt you anymore.......Your heartbroken family

JASE, THE LOVE AND STRENGTH YOU HAVE GIVEN US, WILL LIVE ON FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

Memories

A wonderful person

judy4446 Oct 25, 2008

Jason you touched so many hearts with your warm, generous friendly personality who accepted everyone as an equal and treated them just the same. People are still saying that they can't believe it even your closest friends. We still ask why but understand that life dealt you some terrible blows and respect your decison. This doesn't stop us loving or missing you terribly. Love you heaps - forever in my heart

Dear Michael..

Gayle Hodgkin Sep 19, 2008

On behalf of our family, we are truly honoured that you have done this for our darling Jase..It's nice to know that apart from his family, he is so sadly missed....I will leave this memorial for you and your friends, to use and view...A place where you can mourn the loss of the most unique, caring, loving brother a sister could wish for....
Our lives will never be the same again without Jase in it....I miss him more than anything and I love him more than yesterday.....Take care of yourself, and I hope oneday we may get the chance to meet....Gayle xoxo
