Dr Black was an Australian Botanist, Born in South Australia to Eustace and Julia Black (nee Dixon).  A proud St Peter's College Old Scholar, he graduated in botany from Sydney University.  He was a loving father to five children Judith; Stephen; John; Penny and Quentin and loved grandfather and great grandfather to many.

His study and career in botany, took him to NSW, QLD, NT, WA and SA.  He was a good friend to many. He loved reading, learning, seeking new knowledge and hearty scientific thought and debate.  These are traits that he has passed onto his family. Dr Black was a respected scholar and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and missed by those who loved him.
